ur point about the 11sec civics vs. 11sec mustangs is probably correct, i just don't know.. but for street purposes, civics have better reliability.. to mess up a honda engine, you have to throw insane amounts of boost at it or hit the rev limiter like crazy.. to mess up a mustang engine, all you hafta do is drive it daily and it'll mess itself up.. 
unfortunately you are brainwashed by what youve "heard" how much FIRST hand mustang exp you have??? or domestic tuning for that matter.. i have friends with daily drivable (meaning they are totaly street legal) 10 sec domestics... to this day i have never with my own eyes seen a 10 sec daily drivable civic... look im NOT saying domestics are all that.. im simply saying that they are NOT as unreliable as people think... and as far as a 5g hatch.. sure you can get it for 2500.. and how fast will that be in the 1/4? 16's... you can buy a 5.0 for 2k in good condition and it will ALREADY be right around high 14's... so you will have to throw a LOT of money at your civic JUST to get where im already at with my mustang.. then if i throw equal cash at my mustang you are back in the hole and if you try to catch up you you are that much closer to being less reliable..
