like one of those cheap ball type ones. that should make it about .5~1 inch shorter.

at least that works on my car, it reduces the lever by 1.5inches
My Razo knob sits about 2" shorter than my stock GS-R knob, and the short shifter is the same height as stock inside the cabin.

yeah the only drawback is that the shift effort is increased. most after market kits have some sort of effort reducing kit.

effort reducer kit?

my shifter is aftermarket, but the part above the pivot is the same height as stock. Effort is increased because of the lower ratio between the length of the part above the pivot and the part below.

Even so, my shifter feels pretty nice. It feels much more solid than the stock shifter w/ rubber bushings, which had a rubbery feeling when the shifter was in any gear.

yeah, and then i cut my springs, and added two windshield banners and those cool license plate frames that look like chains. My neon underbody lights should be here tomorrow.

yeah I know why the effort is increased. most bmw short shifter kits have an optional effort reduction kit as well. but then again most bmws have a pretty long throw. Not as long as a VW (which is like a school bus) but still pretty long.

honda/mazdas have a pretty nice stock shifters.

Easy Kids don't get all snotty! It was just an idea, which is the reason I posted to see what people thought. Since everyone is saying it is retarded then I am not going to do it. So keep the mud slinging for someone who deserves it.
