Wow! Those look like tit retainers.

Congratulations on the head.

Those are some burly shafts you've got there.

Even I have to come out of the closet to post my kudos...

Someone's going to have a lot of fun with this post! LOL!

I'm going to leave it alone. :db:

Do you think this post has enough content in it to be worthy of this thread? Maybe we should setup a poll and find out. :lmao:

i don't know if you meant my retainers resemble boobies or if they look like they're made out of titanium.... either way, :crazyr:

Frequently in parts catalogs Titanium is abbreviated. At first I thought they were some type of steel-belted bra for those high-performance racing boobies, but then I put 2+2 together...

yeah, they're titanium... I think my valves are a little heavier than stock (flat heads, but they also taper, so maybe not :dunno: ) so I went with the titanium. Well really, I'm a poser so I went with the titanium.

Talking to the local tuners, its sounding like getting real decent engine management is gonna cost me $500+, so it might be a while longer than expected before its tuned and I show you my pitiful dyno numbers

Can't you just get it chipped? Full-blown engine management is nice, but there are cheaper alternatives that can get you by with power gains for now, aren't there? You might not be able to milk every drop out of it and push your timing advance to the limit, but you should be able to get it in a good ballpark with just a chip. ...?

Argue with me because I don't know...

What else have you done to the ol' shitbox, I can't remember? What do you need to change now? VTEC engagement point? Higher red line?

*poof* back to polishing...

I can't really argue because I honestly don't know all that much myself. What the guy told me is that a lot of times people get something cheap like Uberdata, which ends up working out fine, but it takes so much more tuning time to get it just the way you want it that it barely comes out cheaper. He can slap out a pretty much perfect Hondata tune in about an hour.

I haven't heard back from the other tuner yet, but maybe he's more familiar with Crome and other cheaper options. Hondata and Neptune are going to be pretty close in price, all said and done.

The thing is, I know I'm never gonna use the launch controls, multi-step rev limiters, etc etc. So I'd really rather not pay for them, but I do want as good a tune as I can get, so hack jobs, VAFC, etc are not ideal.

The other thing is I may sell the car at the end of the summer, or I may do *a lot* more to it. If I end up keeping it, I'll probably build more agressive motors, and maybe consider forced induction. If thats the case, it'll be nice to already have a competent management system in place. :dunno:

I wish I knew more about this crap, because the more I look into it, the more confused I get.

My motor is pretty simple at this point: stock b16 block, milled head, flathead valves, springs, retainers and moderate NA cams. Probably about 10.6/7:1 overall compression. The cams don't do a lot past 8500, so I'm not going to be going wild with the tune.

:edit:that $500 is including the management system, installation, tuning and dyno time.

IMO... that's worth it. All the power is in the tune. If you're thinking about selling the car, then it makes sense to wait. It sux to do all that head work if you're going to sell it, though.

If you keep it, Hondata and boost it. So what if you don't know much about forced induction, it's worth the education and the feeling you get when you mash the gas.

I know plenty about forced induction, but I also know (from experience) that I don't want to turbo my autocross car. Every mechanical bit of the car makes perfect sense to me, but when you start talking about electronics and engine management, I'm lost.

If I keep the car, the next step will be a 2 liter block and an LSD equipped transmission. If I do go the FI route (certainly wont happen any time soon), it will probably be an air/water cooled JRSC.
