*poof* back to polishing...
I can't really argue because I honestly don't know all that much myself. What the guy told me is that a lot of times people get something cheap like Uberdata, which ends up working out fine, but it takes so much more tuning time to get it just the way you want it that it barely comes out cheaper. He can slap out a pretty much perfect Hondata tune in about an hour.
I haven't heard back from the other tuner yet, but maybe he's more familiar with Crome and other cheaper options. Hondata and Neptune are going to be pretty close in price, all said and done.
The thing is, I know I'm never gonna use the launch controls, multi-step rev limiters, etc etc. So I'd really rather not pay for them, but I do want as good a tune as I can get, so hack jobs, VAFC, etc are not ideal.
The other thing is I may sell the car at the end of the summer, or I may do *a lot* more to it. If I end up keeping it, I'll probably build more agressive motors, and maybe consider forced induction. If thats the case, it'll be nice to already have a competent management system in place. :dunno:
I wish I knew more about this crap, because the more I look into it, the more confused I get.
My motor is pretty simple at this point: stock b16 block, milled head, flathead valves, springs, retainers and moderate NA cams. Probably about 10.6/7:1 overall compression. The cams don't do a lot past 8500, so I'm not going to be going wild with the tune.
:edit:that $500 is including the management system, installation, tuning and dyno time.
