Actually, i take that back....stock z6 or y8 sleeves can take a lot more than 220whp. I was thinking about stock pistons and rods! Wow im retarded. Sorry about that bro. I have a friend in Cali who is on 400+ hp on stock sleeves and hasnt cracked one yet. Although that is definitely pushing it, but he is a professional builder.

As to your question, sleeves range anywhere from $800-1000 depending on what kind + labor. I wouldnt advise going with a blockguard as it causes overheating problems, plus you have to go to a shop to get them to sit it flush on your block. Running925 feels differently and im sure will post up...however me and many others feel this way.

yes i do feel differently.. & when you show me that YOU have had a heat problem with it then you can state that you have a valid point.. but until then.. your definatly talkin out your ass .. i have run them my self & have had no problems.. when summer rolls around i'll push 20psi through my stock sleeved / block guarded block & show you that there are no heat problems.. there is a big difference in the water jackets in certain block guards.. some are small some are big but what u really should look at is the flip side.. look at the holes in the head & how big they are & compaire that to the size of the block guard.. when u do.. you will see that the passages in the block guard will out flow the head thus the reason that there is not a problem.. & they are also aluminum so they disipate heat the same as the block.

i actually just searched the forum about block guards and i don't think im going that route. i think ill just build a bomb proof bottom end and low compression pistons with new rings. For the head I think i just upgrade the springs, retainers and then throw in some valve seals. i think im gonna put about $1500 into the motor and try to build the turbo kit for under $1000. Ill keep everyone updated. most likely wont start untill next summer. i will, however have a new clutch and resurfaced fly before then (its on the way out) has about 150k on it as of now.

Wow dude...chill out. I cant say that i personally have had problems with them but i have had friends that had problems. Relax and dont take everything to heart. When i brought your name up, i wasnt saying it in a bad way, i was just saying you feel differently cause i remember how you argued with oscar over it.

honestly i'm kinda in an uproar over this stuff because your saying things that arn't true. I don't wanna see someone with limited knowlage on a subject make a bad decision based on false information that they have gathered from here. There is nothing wrong with block guards.. that is some kinda rumor that started a long long time ago & is false unless the block guard has so small of water passages that they almost turn the block into a closed deck situation. People are generating amazing numbers such as 400-500hp using block guards with stock sleeves & for the cost of a $75 block guard that you can install in your own garage.. the results are amazing!

Ok that's fine...Since you have obviously had more experience w/ them, we will leave it at your call. The guy already stated he isnt going that path and afterall it is his final decision whether to or not. Im not arguing with you over this and turning it into some big grudge. I respect your knowledge and leaving it at that. I was simply stating what i have seen and thats it. This convo just ended.
