CF Hood VIS or FIber Image

One of the Bimmer guys here has a FI one on his car, and at a show a CF specialist said that it was one of the best works he's ever seen. Well, I got a FI one and the fitment on my sedan is a little off, I had to add washers-- alot! And it still looks a little off. I am reluctant to drill holes for hood pins... btw, where do you guys mount your washer nozzles now? (again, I don't want to drill my CF)

lol, pissers... I am toying around with mounting them on the inside of the fender.. but it didn't work, going fast, the spray just sprays the car next to me (hmmm idea....
) On the wiper might be tricky, but I'll see. Everyone here says "why do you need the nozzles" well, I think it's better for safety, as well as the fact that I'm anal about clear vision and clean glass.

Anyone who says they don't need WW nozels doens't live where there is snow or other bad weather. Even in the winter, salt gets on the glass and does't go away, you can't see ****. same with spring, the dirty snow and stuff...

The positive things (I think) about the hood is that it comes with the holes for hinges so installation is about 5 mins. The edges are smooth and rolled and the CF goes partially down the underside of the hood. It's already clearcoated so it's nice and shiny right out of the box.
The negative things (I think) about the hood is that the fitment isn't that perfect (the passenger side sits slightly higher than the driver side, (but then again, that could be just my hood), there are holes for the windshield washer squirters (I didn't want any) and that there are two dimples where the emblem should be (I guess that the manufacturer thought that everyone wanted their emblems on their new CF hood).
Maintaining a CF hood is a little more difficult than your standard painted hood. Haziness occurs after washing unless you wax it after every wash. Having owning the hood for over a year, you start to see waviness as well. I'm guessing that this is heat that is causing it. Also, little circles appear in the hood, like as if the cleaner/wax is stripping the clearcoat. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it is noticeable upon really close inspection.
Hopefully, someone with a FI hood can give you the same kind of evaluation on their hood. But I hope that this helps you and other members out looking for a CF hood for their car.

when or if you order the ViS hood you need to make sure you get the one w/ rolled edges, if not they will give you the cheaper one that is crap. but with any c/f hood there is gonna be a little fawkup in it...its aftermarket, nothing will fit like OEM, nothing. Random i think w/ your c/f hood you have that hazy from what i was explaining to you b4...but i need to see pics before anything else though. yeah i hate those 2 dimples in the front aswell...with the cheaper one i had from VIS they didnt have that. on my c/f hood i used a marker and mark the spot where it sits when it is aligned to where its suppost to be so whenever i take it off and put it on its easier to align it and takes less time to do so.
the thing with carbon fiber and fiberglass that weve talked about OVER and OVER again is it's not a solid in the typical sense, its maleable and its shape changes over time. it also breaks down fairly easy. theres a reason cars arent made with it, and it isnt because its expensive, if many cars used it it would become very cheap, as the materials are much more abundant than steel/aluminum. anything you do to your car is going to be high maintenance, and carbon fiber or fiberglass is especially no exception. on the flip side it will be far stronger and hold its shape better than fiberglass, fiberglass is something you dont really want to get involved with if at all possible, especially somewhere that is open to the elements.
my hood comes next week i hope
