I have some miserable videos of one racing this past weekend.

I have nothing but respect for the guys that mod Vipers, though. I saw a 1300hp twin-turbo setup in one once. It might have been more, but that was as high as the dyno could measure. Impressive!
Not many exist, I was just stating the fact that he didn't keep up with a regular Viper. He stayed even with a Viper that was trapping 133mph at the time. Which now I believe it's made a run of mid 9's @ 150mph.

Yea it is gutted and has a fuel cell with a switch to switch between fuel cell and gas tank for track duty. It truely is street legal, but I'm sure he unbolts the exhaust when racing and to make 800whp.

He drives around daily at 8psi, and he said he gets about 30mpg. I think it's kind of funny to see that out of a race car

Jafro, 13.2 in a viper? I saw two bone stock vipers run 11's last night. They were not even the new bodystyle. I also saw a new ZO6 throw a rod too. It was an interesting night. He should have known something was wrong with his Vette when he ran a 13.5 his first pass.

Would you like me to post videos? I'm not to be a penis waver or anything... it's just because I don't want some 11-second Viper owner telling you his car is stock and expecting you to believe him... To run a low-mid-11 second pass, a Viper-weight RWD car (17% drivetrain loss) would have to produce over 680hp at the crank, and they just don't. They're around 500 at the crank... and only about 410 of it hits the pavement. They weigh 3383lbs without a driver. Some trim levels are only 3230. You can go to http://www.dsm.org/tools/calchp.htm and run that math if you want.

If you want to verify that calculation's accuracy, my 3355lb DSM (with me in it and 1/8 tank of gas) runs the 1/4 in 12.67 at 108mph. I dynoed it 2 weeks ago and it's making 324 awhp (25% drivetrain loss). If those numbers line up, tell me what a 500hp ( - 17% drivetrain loss = 415hp) 3383lb Viper + a 180lb driver runs. A Viper's trap speed will be maybe 7mph faster than mine. You'll be surprised at the results.

Even an 11.99 second Viper is nowhere near stock. They're not geared to get up and go from a stop. They're geared to run through 6th gear like it's 3rd and capable of hitting over 200mph. You can't have it all. I'm sure that the way they're geared will cause more than 17% loss, but I'm being modest because 17% is a general calculation for FR drag cars. Viper gears are uber-tall.

Well, the silver Viper coupe that ran on wednesday is the owner of a local dodge dealer and I don't know why he would lie. His Viper has no noticable mods.

The yellow one could have been modded but he ran a few mid 12 second runs before he dropped eventually to low 11's after like 8 or 9 runs.

With the hp they produce, they should easily be able to run a low 12... It could also be that all 4 vipers I've witnessed locally just had crapily consistent drivers. Maybe there's a factory-optional gearbox or rear differential available for people that don't need to go 205mph. I dunno... I've haven't been Viper shopping lately but if a street-friendly drivetrain isn't an option, it should be on a street-legal car.

I wish there were some Viper owners in this forum that could shed some light. You know some Viper owner somewhere owns a Honda because he HAS to. Sure it's probably an Acura TSX, but... y-know what I'm sayin'?

But an 800whp civic will maim and destroy a Viper in a straight line because it weighs 1,363 lbs less. That's damn impressive. If you could make it stick, it's good for low-8's. I can't touch that. Not even going there.
