Buying new car????
Hi, as you know , I posted a thread about the Mini Cooper a while ago and got alot of replys, I drove it and.... well thats not the type of car for me... They are sweet as far as handling, acceleration, and looks, but... I just didnt like it.... So my search is still on.
I was browsing the forums and I see many people talk about the Focus, and Neon. I looked at both, and drove the Focus SVT, with the euro package and its sweet, but its also too much money. I was wondering what makes the focus an SVT?
Also on the other hand, I like the Neon R/T, and SRT-4. And I like the fact that they are turbocharged and put out much more HP than the Focus.
I dont want to start a bitch war between people about there opinion on the cars! So dont get started! I was just wondering what makes the Focus an SVT and the Neon R/T vs. SRT-4.

If you plan on going th Neon route, SRT-4 all the way or you're just another Neon for someone to rank on. I've seen some impressive numbers with the stock SRT-4 stock at the track. I give them props for turbochargin' that 4-banger. =)
True True... But what about the Focus? I know about Fords Reputation with reliability, but I dont care since I am ASE certified and have all the tools for the job, relyability is all in how you take care of it...
Also I want somthing I can keep somwhat stock for a long while. So I will have no real problems if I do have to take it in for repairs under warranty. That is where the Dodge comes into play, its already turbo charged...
But then again, if I got the focus I could do alot to the engine.

the SVT focus has a little more power (not much), much better suspension, bigger wheel/tire combo (5 lug), bigger brakes, and I believe a few less options... It handles much better than the regular fukkus.
the biggest difference between the neon r/t and srt-4 is the turbo motor (srt-4), but there are a few other differences too. the r/t doesn't have as many options (stripped down for weight, less sound deadening too), and I think slightly more agressive suspension than the srt-4... not sure on that though. The r/t was designed as an autocross competition entry-level car, so its got less fluff and more legitimate hardware, but has the regular non-turbocharged dohc engine. The srt-4 is very similar, but with a little more fluff, and a boatload more power. If you haven't driven an srt-4 yet, I highly reccomend it... fun as hell
:edit: the SVT fukkus is one of the best handling cars on the market (sport compact segment), and the neon r/t isn't far behind. I say drive whatever you can get your hands on!

SVT is the Special Vehicles Team for Ford, they come out with Ford's top of the line sports vehicles (Mustang, Lightning, and Focus). Basically the SVT Focus is just a factory modified Focus, kind of like what the Si is to the Civic. The Euro package is just to make it look like the Focus RS, which is the rally version of the Focus only offered in Europe. The same is basically true of the SRT-4, it is a Neon chassis factory modified with the turbocharged engine.
Ford reliability is better than before, probably better than Dodge. A lot of their problems with the Focus have been electrical (the cruise control unit fires come to mind) but the Focus line has been around for a while now so a lot of the bugs have been worked out.

Got ya, I bought the SVT HOLY SHIZNIT. It is Sweet! Its the ZX5 SVT, I have it for a week to decide if I like it or if I want somthing else, the delarship is holding my Civic just incase. I love this thing, the only thing I would change is the Driver seat, A deeper bucket would be better, becasue this thing handles off the charts, after I got to drive it without the sales guy..... Well lets just say it sticks to the ground very well... I also drove the R/T and the SRT-4, I liked both of them about the same, the SRT-4 had alot more power, but "I didnt really like how it handled, the wheel base and length of the car. The SVT sat a little lower and had more of what I liked, performance wise....
