Engine Paint

Engine Paint
Has anyone painted their valve cover and exhaust manifold heat shield?
I am wondering what I need to do to prep the surface. The valve cover looks good and doesn't really need paint, but the heat shield has all these little rust spots and could stand some preservation. I know that it needs to be sanded, but do I need to use a special hi-temp primer or do I just start layering on the paint?
Thanks in advance!

use very, very high grit paper on the heat shield. I used like some 800 and scuffed it to shreds. also clean it over and over again. also make sure you let the paint dry atleast over night and let it idle and cure on the engine before taching it all over town.
if you haven't caught on I did a quick rush job and within a month it was cracking. thank god I didn't try the valve cover

duplicolor makes awesome engine paint and clearcoat, degrease the valve cover, get every single nook and cranny because if there is ANY oil, grease the paint will not stick. good luck. dry for several several hours
