use very, very high grit paper on the heat shield. I used like some 800 and scuffed it to shreds. also clean it over and over again. also make sure you let the paint dry atleast over night and let it idle and cure on the engine before taching it all over town.

if you haven't caught on I did a quick rush job and within a month it was cracking. thank god I didn't try the valve cover
