an ECU is the Engine Control Unit and is actually called an ECM (Engine Control Module) by the mfg. for the H22 you'll need the P13 ECU/ECM.

You're friend that was thinking of the K should just get the H22 and it's not 220hp unless he's getting the Prelude Type S version with the red valve cover. I have a JDM H22 and it's only 200hp... the USDM version is only 190hp... still a kick ass motor though.

I pounded all ove a guy in his RSX-S the other night and we ended up parking near each other. He came running up to me in shock and was like MAAAAN... What do you have in that thing ... it was great:thumbup:

Go H22 and start wupping some ars:thumbup: :naughty:

Like said above it is possible, but not an easy or cheap task. If he will wait about a year there will be complete swap kits/instructions to complete a K series swap. It will become mainstream, and B-Series engines will be going for half what they are now.

Unlikely, the supply is RAPIDLY diminishing however the demand is still increasing.

Once the swap is simplified, and how to's are everywhere the demand will switch from B to K series (except for people looking for a cheap B series engine.) Think about it. This will be the next wave of Honda Tuning. I can't wait to bring this thread back to life in 1 yr.

I agree the next wave in innovation is with the K-Series, however it will still be unaffordable for most. Do you know the going rate for a K20A3 right now? It's around $5K tack on all the usually added expenses of doing a swap and you are looking of upwards of $6K. There aren't too many K-Series around in salvage yards yet, in a year, it's not going to be much better. Maybe in 5 years they will become affordable, but between now and 5 years, the cost of B-Series motors will rise. In the last year, I have seen B18B changeovers increase from $1200 to $2200. We are just simply running out of B-Series motors.

Well a B18C5 will cost you close to a K series. Personally I'd pay the extra $ to have a K motor with so much more potential.
I think the B18C1 will hover around the same price, and the B16 and B18B will become cheaper. Only time will tell. I think the import performance scene itself is in a decline, and a lot of people are jumping from Honda to other manufacturers.

STOP...STOP...STOOOOP!!! Both of you are scarin the dickins out of me:nervous: :naughty:

Seriously though, I don't see the cost of the K coming down for quite some time.... the demand is too high and the supply is too low... there's just not that many of them in salvage yards... basic economics at work here.

Yes I know the K swap is damn expensive right now but the demand is still high because there are plenty of people willing to shell out the bucks for a $6k swap. If an RSX gets totaled the vultures will strip that baby before the previous owner can shed some tears.

It's iffy whether the cost of the B will go up or down... but I definitely don't see it going down a whole lot in the next couple of years... and in the future I think they will hold their value and may go up? Think of the old american muscle car seens of yester year... a big block motor from an old Chevy is still holding it's value to muscle car tuners despite the newer technologies that have come out after them.
