Diamond Star Motors. It was a Mitsubishi/Chrysler co-op from a few years ago, they made Lasers, Eclipses, and Talons. They were also involved with the 3000GT and the Stealth.

DSM and beater are synonymous so why am I not surprised at all?

Actually the 88-91 Honda Civic AWD Wagon is a hell of a winter beater.

Actually, GVR-4's are straight-up JDM's. They're not associated with the Normal Illinois plant because they are shipped in one piece from Japan, but they share a lot of parts with DSMs. They do have the same engine, but the compression and drivetrains are different. GVR-4's also have 4-wheel steering. You should see the European 93+ GVR-4's... There are twin turbo V6 models available! SICK.

NightShade: Beater isn't synonymous with DSM, SLEEPER is. It's not uncommon to find stock-appearing DSMs in the 11's and getting ejected from tracks because they don't have a roll cage. Congrats on an all-motor 13  that's impressive!

FourthGenHatch: I stand corrected!

Kai: You left out Hyundai... Crazy enough, the 4g6x is in all kinds of Hyundais. Sure makes finding parts in junkyards a lot easier because the T/E/L are always stripped, but everyone always leaves the Hyundai's alone. Fine by me!!!

ziggyziggy: WTF are those green 4-legged things?!?!?!

...I see. Oh, and BTW, I've seen a stock looking (aside from wheels and cage) dsm run a 9.7 on radial tires--and that was at bandimere, over a mile in elevation.

They used the engines, but weren't exactly DSM's... I wish there was a cheapie company that used Honda or Mazda Rotary engines

Sean Glazar maybe? Sounds like him. I think he set a world record for a unibody 4-banger with a white 92 Talon. If it was THIS CAR: http://www.extrememotorsports.com/team/seangt.htm , he's run 8's with it. :eek3: Of course, if I had sponsors like that...
