bye bye honda?
you're going to spend money on gas out the frame! my dad has a friend who burned his truck on a country road to collect insurance money bc that truck broke too often and wastes a lot of gas.

As far as knowing how to drive a truck, Yes, I know how to drive a truck. I learned how to drive, period, on my dad's truck. This is a little bigger, but i'm quite sure i'll get the hang of it quick.
Its a:
1999 Dodge Ram 1500
5 speed
Club Cab
5.2 Ltr V8 Magnum
48,000 Miles
For only $10,000! Not a thing wrong with it, although, I am going to request a carfax from them to make sure. drives like a BEAUTY! I'm so excited!!! I'll get pictures when I buy it! The loan should be approved on Monday, and If i don't have it in my posession monday, I'll be driving it off the lot tuesday morning

Again you heed good advice, but its your money to spend. Most people that buy trucks get autos because like everyone said they are a lot more useful.

The truck could be totalled and unless it was reported to insurance carfax won't say a thing.

I went back to Honda last night to look one last time at the truck, I crawled underneath the truck, and really looked at it. I don't see any color variations, like where maybe they couldn't match the paint well, which is a good sign. I am not going to totally disregard that the truck could have been wrecked, I am definately taking all you guys' advice and getting a carfax on the truck.
I'm not buying the truck for any specific purpose, I don't haul stuff, I don't go mudding, 4 wheeling, or anything like that. I really wanted an SUV but couldn't find one in my price range.
I really appreciate all your advice guys, I am going to go in there skeptical before I sign for anything, Is there any questions I need to ask? I really didn't want to get to indepth in asking them questions about the truck until I knew that I was approved. If I am approved for $12,000, there is also a tacoma on the lot I noticed last night, If the truck isn't going to meet my needs, there is always the tacoma, which is priced at 11,500. I am sure i can talk them down a little on it.
Other than that, What are some typical questions you would ask about a vehicle? I've never bought one, and I wasn't there when the Honda was bought, so I am totally clueless. I really APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!

Well, I thought about what everyone has said, and I thought some more, I had all weekend to decide if this was what I needed and wanted. You're right, it would be a lot more reasonable to get an automatic, but personally, I don't prefer them.

Why would you wanna buy a truck for the heck of it. It is a gas hog and there are enough morons on the road as it is. If you want a truck for the heck of it then get a Tacoma Prerunner because one they are 2wd and two they are less of a gas hog. Most people think 4wd makes them invinsible and I see more people in trucks and SUVs wrecking in winter.
But like I said... your money your business.
Like Axe said, its your money to spend and spend it the way you feel.
Personally, an auto would be alot easier for you to drive, and I hate the fact that people buy trucks and SUVs just to drive on the road and never use them for what they are meant for...
Business use(constrution, utility) or Off-roading
Right now 87 Unleaded cost 1.64 and you will be spending twice as much as you normally do in gas.
My dad owns a huge Ford truck, but he only drives it 5 days out of the month, and that to take it out to the trail and get it dirty.
And dont use that "I feel safe in a truck" crap, you are no more safer in that truck than you are in a civic, and not to be an asshole, but you will be more dangerous in that truck. Trucks like that do not drive like a car. Suspension, chassis, acceleration, braking all are different, just keep that in mind.
Unless you lived on a farm up in Nebraska, and need something to haul shit to and from town, I'd say yes, But in your situation, big NO.
Keep your Honda or get another car, but not a truck
