^ Sounds sweet, keep us in the loop on that one. Not to mention more pics of cool pens (as they come out).

Nice! Would be cool if you could turn this into a legitimate, profit-making side-business.

They run a craft festival every year, and want me to possibly have a display/sales table in their store during it in november to see how the demand/market is in that area. I'm pretty hopeful, and the store owner seemed pretty pumped and said she hasn't really seen handmade pens in the area. Looks like I need to make some time to make some more pens.
Sounds awesome!

I've expanded products to include wine bottle stoppers. I've only done one so far, and need to learn how to do better shapes, but it's a start.

I was finally able to get a confirmation on this. They're going to have a table in their store with my products, and manage the sales, and they get 15%. If they do well enough, we'll have a consignment deal to have pens in their store all the time. It's pretty exciting because I wasn't even really looking to do anything like this, but know better than to pass up an opportunity.

Well, the show was yesterday. I only sold a couple of things. It was a good experience, but I don't think I had the right product for the crowds. But I do have an idea of what to do for that type of crowds if I get the chance again. I also was able to talk to a local artist, and I'm going to see about getting some of his artwork in a pen. It'll be a complete new thing for me since I'll actually be making the blanks that I use to make the pens, but should be fun. And I definitely can see them selling better than what I had.

The other bonus is that I have built up an inventory so people can see more of what I can do, and what options they have. I've already gotten orders based on what I made because I wouldn't let people buy them before the show. It also gave me a chance to do other products, like bottle openers and wine bottle stoppers, which people appear to be interested in.

I have some pictures to get together, and then I'll post them.

Siiiiik.

I never thought about catering a product to a crowd, but I guess you're right. Just as long as you learned something, not all was lost.

Take a picture of your inventory : o
