If we are talking about an AR-15 and he has a 3-round selector switch, even though it won't fire 3-round bursts, it is still considered an automatic by Uncle Sam. Not good.

BTW, the US legal definition of "Fully Automatic" is the ability to fire more then two shots from a single chamber with one pull of the trigger. Why they chose two instead of one is beyond me, and I know of a few guys who tried to make a kit for AR-15s to fire two rounds with one pull since it is not legally considered "full auto." Well, maybe it is in California.
I don't quite remember what kind of rifle it was, not an AR-15 though, it might have been some sort of H&K. The dude has so many guns he can't even tell me the number. One of the more remarkable guns he has is a Benelli autoloading shotgun with an 18-round magazine. He also has a Barrett .50BMG.

No matter how many rounds come out of an AR-15 when you pull the trigger, it's still illegal here. Another interesting piece of local anti-gun legislation is that the sale of 50 caliber firearms such as the Barrett is illegal in the City of Los Angeles (where I live). Obviously, people robbing liquor stores with a .50BMG is a big problem here.

The next mission the City is embarking on is to ban the sale of ammunition.

Eh, some kinds of H&K do have marked positions for 3 round burst, but that is a grey area in the law. It should technically be illegal, but it really isn't because that's just the way it is marked. :dunno:

There actually are a couple companies that make Cali legal AR lower receivers. They do not take detachable magazines, and they only hold 10 rounds, so they are exempt from all recent legislature concerning the AR-15. Great news if you build your own.

You know that will completely end gun violence :chuckles:

Sounds like now is the time to stockpile ammo.

Or, I can drive about 10 mile south of my current location and buy ammo outside of Los Angeles.
