Default Guns [help please]

I went to go get a deer / sniper rifle. I dont remeber what i looked at - it was pure black, scoope - max range around 500 yards. Now they where jerks to me the whole time. And i ended up walking out.
I understand its a gun. I dont want to kill things. I just want a nice long range gun for target practice and stuff. I also understand i look younge, and well stop being a prick to me, once you have my drivers lisc. and you know i am old enuff to buy weapons. I realy wasnt happy with the whole ordeal. however i still would like to get a long range sniper rifle. mid to long range. Looking to spend upto around 500 bucks. on the gun alone. Pics and some help would me nice?

Any bolt action chambered in .30-06 is good for deer. For a sniper rifle though, most people go for a .308 (7.62mm NATO). For a decent bolt action, like a Remington 700 or Winchester Model 70, you'll have to spend more than $500, more like $700.

If you a want cheaper deer gun, a lever action rifle chambered in 30-30 will work fine but the range is probably only 200 yards or less.

Id spend 700 - 900 if i had to get some thing good. Why waste 500, 700 would last me longer and happyer. Id like to stick with a bolt action.

I personally like my .260 and .243

I used those as a hunting gun for about 10 years now.. They shoot remarkably flat (especially the .243, at one point I had an inch drop at 200 yards)

The actual power of the .243 is somewhat limited, the bullet is very small... but the muzzle velocity is extremely fast (hence flatness). .260 packs a bit more punch, but you get more drop at longer distances.

My 30-30 drops like a ROCK after 150 yards or so, but that same gun is responsible for decimating the american buffalo population back in the wild west days... hell, the indian population too 30-06 is a great choice as well... i guess it all depends on what you want..

If that's the case, I'd definitely look into a bolt action .308 such as the Remington 700 BDL. If you like the black, then go with the Remington 700 ADL Synthetic. The synthetic stock is actually cheaper ($500), but I prefer the wood stock on the BDL. My BDL is absolutely beautiful (it's only a .223, but they all look the same). I can post a pic tomorrow if you want.

My pops has one a dems .308 rifles. I'm interested in doing the same thing as smurf dood. But that's a ways off. I'm poor. So for now I have to stick to shooting the dad's guns.

The only rifle I can call my own is the ruger .22 rifle I got for my 10th birthday :happysad:
