Occupy "your city"....... thought?
You honeslty do not see a problem with breaking up these protest? i mean wether you believe in their cause or not, you aren't worried about the government being able to break down these protests in each of the cities they have been organizing?
Also if it was a public park the protest would have been even worst off... they chose that park because it is open 24h nor curfews like publicly owned parks.

and last time i checked, you need a permit to assemble and protest. especially in NYC.

You are entitled to distribute expressive materials or have a rally, press conference or demonstration in a city park. If the event will include more than 20 participants, you must obtain a special events permit from the Parks Department. You can obtain a permit application, which contains the general rules governing the permit process, from the Department’s main office in the borough where the park is located or you can apply online at the Parks Department’s website (www.nycgovparks.org). The application fee is $25.
You also are entitled to use amplified sound at an event in a city park. As with amplified sound in other public places, you must obtain a permit from the Police Department to use amplified sound in a public park. Generally, the Police Department will not issue a sound permit until you obtain your Parks Department permit.

I guess you just don't know WTF you are talking about, and are venting your ignorance here.
Things are messed up WRT banking influence on government. The appropriate venue to protest this would be DC, not NYC, or Oakland or wherever. Banks and bankers are going to do what they do, as much as they can get away with. They don't work for me. The executive, legislative and judicial branches of govt, ostensibly anyway, work for us. They clearly don't think that is the case, that is the root of the problem, IMHO.
[QUOTE=Tobra;4899141]BS, WTF are you talking about? They were allowed to camp illegally for a long time, then when they finally start enforcing this, it is BS.

The reason i did not post earlier in this thread is that i don't quite know what the movement is about. They don't seam to have a common goal and I def agree that they should reassess the reason behind the protest.
The issue i have is that the gov is now stopping them from protesting. From using a form of Sit-In to protest. It's giving the government too much power. Civil disobedience will by definition break laws. By letting the local authorities limit the voice of certain protesting individual (whether you believe in the cause or not) you are eventually giving them the right to shut you protest down too.

I'm going to grab a kilo of smack, a bunch of hookers, and a full bar. Were going to set up in the park here in sarasota, fuck, do drugs, and get waited in broad daylight.
But were going to call it a protest so when they kick us out we can scream "Government Oppression!".
wait, damn, someone already thought of it.

I kinda get the hate for protesters... but man...without people willing to stand out there and make their voices heard...governments would be doing whatever the fuck they want...even more so.
