Well, since Ive had some of both worlds, here is my conensus...

When I had the 95 Impala SS,

No imports would get near me or any of my SS friends. We would usually pick the riciest of them all. All the decals, like they were sponsors or something, dual fart pipes, and body kits with spoilers that were multiple levels. The only ones, would be the guys who really got power out of theirs or ricer boys who got a fart can birthday present from Daddy. The ricer boys were total losers, never stopped to speak or anything. There were a few imports that beat us and there was one in particular who handed us our ass. A 97? Integra turbo w/ NO. Ran mid 11's. We werent bad losers and gave him props. No excuses, just congrats. Point is, if you are gonna get your car to sound and look like car build to haul, then make it haul!!

Now that I have a 97 Accord,

Its not near as fast as My SS was but I still race to get shits and giggles. I'll race anything, I dont care. Ive modded it some but its no street racer or anything. If I lose, big deal. But however, the ricers are all up at racing now! Same ones too!! Wouldnt race me in the SS but now youll race me in the Honda? WTF?
So what youre saying is, you'll tell a 110 lb guy to piss off, but wont tell it to a guy whos 250+ lbs of whoop ass. Boy, either have balls 24/7, or sit down and shut up!

We have some mean imports around here that get props from all the domestic guys but we have an abundance of ricers that fart all over town and couldnt beat a 3-cyl Metro! They give no respect to anyone.
I havent been in the Honda circuit long but Ive already hung on the back tire of a sweet 87 305 Monte Carlo and he never left me, didnt even beat me by a car link. So Im liking the Honda a lot, but Im a V8 guy so Ill get another SS but Im not getting rid of the Honda either.
Some people love all autos, exotics, imports, domestics, trucks, etc. But some people just think their car make is the one and only and its usually the idiots who cant make it run less than 18 sec in the 1/4 mile. So unless you can respect all cars, you shouldnt be involved.

Basically Im aiming for Ricer b!tches who are all show with no go, crooked hat wearing, big chain, wish they were Eminem, look at the rims Mommy and Daddy bought crowd.

yea if im going to do anything to my accord, ill mod the engine.... but is it worth the investment? can the 95 accord get any faster than like a v8?

 

Just because you drive an Accord now, doesn't mean that Accord is the greatest car out there. Don't get overly defensive about other cars being better. By the time you dump the turbo and mod the transmission, change chip...etc, sure you might have a chance beating WRX, but with the $ and time you spent...

Although I drive Accord and I suffer every time I drive it, I got nothing really to against Honda product at the given price range. However, sometimes it is really hard to convence Accord drivers that their cars are not the best cars in the world. Best non-luxury passenger car maybe.

Think about when the table turns, I got lots of challenges from Honda drivers when I drove my old car I either didn't to race them or didn't want to push my car hard or they car can potentially win if I really race them; am I entitled to call Honda drivers "arrogant bastards who wants their car to be something its not"?

Drivers aside, arrogant or not, you have to admit that WRXs are some sweet pieces of machinery, turbo, awd, and weigh 3,000 lbs. Dont get me wrong, I love my Accord, but a nice car is a nice car. In the grand scheme of target marketing, its likelier that older men say in their late twenties will be the ones who can afford to buy and drive a WRX, whereas most Accord enthusiasts are people who have had the Accord handed down to them, and younger, perhaps just starting to drive. Given this factor, theres prolly more cocky accord drivers out there than wrxs, frankly because younger drivers, myself included, tend to be less rational on the streets and more prone to rash actions. I guess my point is, lets stay away from the stereotypes, sure theres gonna be cocky wrx drivers, but theres also going to cocky accord drivers, and cocky corvette drivers, and cocky integra drivers, etc. etc.

WRX's are sweet driving cars. My new accord coupe was in the same price range but I just didn't want a pocket rocket sedan, although the thought of AWD gets me drooling.

I heard that infiniti is switching their whole lineup to AWD. maybe it is finally becoming technically/economically feasible for all cars? I hope honda begins to offer AWD, at least as an option, soon.

I used to drive a rear wheel drive miata and I tell you guys that there is nothing like the handling bliss of being able to steer the car out of a turn with the throttle. AWD would be even better because we could get good launches, neutral steering through turns (hopefully tuned a little toward understeer), and all-weather traction and handling.
