you're looking at things too concretely. you need to think abstractly in order to see the pattern.

take movies for examples.

There's many movies with the same general priciple, and the same basic story line.

IE, Man falls for woman, conflict, tragity, Man overcomes this, happy ending.

What about Greek and Roman mythology. Their gods are pretty much the same thing. Hell, even their stories are almost identical. The names are one of the biggest differences.

Then there's religion. Christianity isn't much different than Islam, save for Jesus. And then theirs the Jewish faith which is similar as well. Doesn't help that they all stem from the same region and person. But all major religions preach the same basic messages.

look at sports and similar entertainment. Gladiators of Rome aren't much different than modern Basketball players, or boxers.

Then there's our lives, which depsite the many differences, are fairly similar.

The universe is a whole bunch of random shit, but there's a pattern that we can't see, and for those of us who can, it's still obscure. There's many corellations, and instances can carry over from one thing to another. IE, sound waves, light waves, waves of emotion, waves of sensation (touch). There all waves.

or another example, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Rome, Spain, England, France, Germany, Russia, America.

Up and down. Rise and fall. Wax and wane. High tide, low tide. Black and white. Good and evil. The nessisaries of life and the universe.

Begining, and then ending.
But the end leads to the begining all over again.

so with so much proof that things, ideas, and situations indeed repeat themselves, I think it would be foolish to say history doesn't repeat itself. Its just above us all. We can't comprehend it all. But I'm not saying its gonna be the same cycle all over again. It's just each time it gets more intense, and we hit a high water point. This is probably going to be it as far as the old way of thought. The fall of our empire will be the dawn of a new age in mankind.

18sec...I am guessing you were stoned off your as$ when you wrote those last two posts.

While parts were funny, there were some truths...not many but some, your ideas are just too opposite of mine...and while I feel we both want the same thing in the end our means of getting there are two completely different ways.

not entirely, but a little.....

none the less, I know its hard to grasp if you're on a different mindset than my own. I was actually a little reluctant to post it up.

but the point is, you know, our government has gotten away with so much over our heads, and they allow company's to basiclly ass-fuck us.

My beleif in God may not be a conventional one, but I know God wouldn't just let his children get screwed.

Technology and loss of spirituality are the biggest issues. Pretty soon, we're gonna do something to really piss God off, and boom, whatever.

I know where you're coming from.

although nothing was really intended to be 'funny' but I guess I hit some targets and missed others.... h:

but the great thing about the passage of time is we'll soon find out who's wrong and who's right

not just that. actually, the idea of pi even came from somewhere.

Look up this thing called "The Emerald Tablet"

I had read a book on it not too long ago, and it nearly parrelled my own ideas.

Whoa!
I should've checked back on this thread.
I see alot of good points.

/^Blackmagik^\- I did kind of think that it would be good for the planet as a whole to see a massive cutback of human population. We are in many ways a plague of this Earth.

Those who dotn think that anyone would want to hurt us must consider the radical Muslims. If one of their groups could get their hands on nuclear weapons I do not think they woudl hesitate to fire it because many of them and suicidal anyways for their beleifs.

I also very much agree that there is a pattern of the universe of highs and lows and that everything must fall into balance in one way or another.

I do not think that History will not repeat itself, maybe not in the exact same way but it does. The rise and fall of empires coems under my previous theroy of balances. With every high there is a low, etc.

Thanx for the responses, keep me coming.

18secferio-

that was one long....thought. but it makes sense to me, everything has a ying and yang and an up and down like you said. i like to believe that everything happens for a reason and there has to be a reason for what is going on around the world, maybe for some greater good, who knows. ahh...i cant finish my thoughts, havent slept yet and gettin tired

They would have a hard time detonating a nuke insdie the US. These small radical factions don't own ICBM's, and would have a hell of a time smuggling a suitcase nuke, or something of the like into our borders. I believe the main threat of nuclear war is from actual goverment establishments. Such as Isreal retaliating with their nuclear arsenal against some large scale attack, India and Pakistan launching at eachother, or the US deploying some of the new mini tactical nukes in a coming war. Hell, the US is the only nation to have ever used Atomic/Nuclear weapons.

We were discussing this same topic in my Advanced International Relations course. The EU is well prepared to outstrip the US, as is China.

Hell, the Euro is over the dollar. That means that it's no longer cheap to buy European products.

I think Rome's percentage was far, far above that.

And???

At the time of the Roman Empire they were it...they controlled almost all of the known civilized world. When they went to war they conqured people and expanded the empire.

Unlike the title of this thread says the US is not an Empire...we do not conquer other nations and then keep them for ourselves. Look at what we did to Japan and Germany after WWII!!!
