tritium sights are more of a detriment than a bonus IMO. you wind up focusing more on the sights than on the target and screw your accuracy at night.

Get one of these babies. Of course it would be kind of hard trying to conceal it, but I don't think anyone would want to mess with you if you show them the end of the barrel.

And, you can swap the barrel and use rounds other then a .50 caliber. For instance, you can use .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, or the .50 AE rounds with the swap of a barrel.

no point in carrying a gun that stuns the person shooting as much as the person on the business end.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. We had this commission who was the actual commisioner (not a cop who worked his way up) for 35 years....he was a complete dinosaur. When departments made the switch over to automatics in the late 80s/early 90s, he was of the old person mentality (from what I have heard) that "no way my officers will carry anything but an American gun," and so we got stuck with the Smiths. This guy retired about a year and a half ago (a few months before I got hired), and we got a new commmission. Word is that he wants to get us different guns, but he is in no rush because we already have these Smiths. There are many other guns out there that are much better, but we are stuck with them because buying everyone a new gun would cost a ton. I wish we would switch over to glocks, H&Ks, Sigs, or just about anything else....I guess I'll have to just keep my fingers crossed.
