I hung a cabinet using french cleats, and it was a biatch even lifting it up that high

 

every once in a while, you can see where he used a springy bar thing to hold it up.

 

here's an updated photo. counter is installed, appliances are in and working (including the new gas range/oven instead of electric. yes!). next is back splash, paint, and different lighting.
