Really? My dad used them everywhere around his house.

So did we and used them all over the ranch too.

Seems now creosote posts can't be sold anymore except to RR and utility companies

The place in Conroe, TX where I used to live that did the railroad ties is a Superfund Site now.

If you do open dirt, that landscape cloth is your best friend for keeping weeds at bay.

If it were me I'd remove the brick island in front of the garage and replace with grass. Then I'd remove the bricks and bushes by the fence and line the entire fence with a veggie garden. Use the left over dirt for the garden. Then use the leftover brick to either line the edge of the driveway, make an outdoor bonfire pit, make an outdoor fireplace, or make a wall to block an unfavored neighbor's driveway. Don't forget to bury the bodies you'll find under those bushes. :nervous:

I think I am set on that now. Take out the bricks, rid of all the plants, plant and mulch that area...and yes, landscape cloth is a must. Then on the side, keep that area raised, but replace the brick with a nicer stone...put a couple small trees on there.

Anyone know how I can get rid of tree stumps? besides the obvious hiring of someone.

Rent a stump grinder.

Around here they are about $100 a day plus deposit.
