Official: Final Fantasy 13 thread
I ground there as well. I would run inside, fight the soldiers then run outside and fight the dragoons and the deck somethings, back and forth. When I picked Vanille and Sazh back into the party, they had over 60,000 CP to build with.
I haven't had any issues with the Eidolons so far (knock on wood), but they are fun to command. The story gets pretty good the further you get into it also. I have like 23 hours logged so far, but I am a level up whore in all FF games so I have probably spent a good 5+ hours on CP farming alone.
I am about to start chapter 9 where if anyone is nearing chapter 8, CP farm like CRAZY!!! There is one part in particular that nets you 640 CP...go back a few points and they respawn. I started chapter 9 and my players have like 30k CP to level up. About 45 minutes will net you close to 15k of CP. One of the best places in the game for time:CP gained ratios.
After playing thus far, I am liking everything more and more. They say to not level shit up until later in the game so I am waiting to do all that...I stupidly leveled 2 things up to level 5, but other than that now I am laying back. Another negative I don't like is you don't gain gil from fights anymore, so wanting to buy stuff gets very picky.

Chapter 11 is awesome.
The game opens up a lot and the difficulty spikes up for a nice challenge.
So far I've only had to do about a 30 min grind session cause a boss was giving me trouble.
Oh and if anyone needs a grind spot in Chapter 11, let me know. There is a group of mobs you can kill in less then a minute that gives u 8k CP. You can run a bit away and come back and they'll respawn.

Anyway the grind spot i'm talking about is after your last party member gets his/her eidolon. Read on for an exact location...
There are 5 "Pulsework Gladiators" (gold colored walking machines) in Taejin's Tower at the bottom of the Fifth Tier stairway. Lead them to the stairs, wait for them to turn around and charge from behind for a Preemptive Strike followed up by a Quake for everyone to get staggered (these also don't attack while staggered). Ravager AOEs kill them off quickly. I think I've been able to kill all five in less then 30 seconds.
To force them to respawn, head up the staircase, run through room to the outer walkway (easily avoid the mob) then come back down. I noticed that sometimes I had to go up and down the stairs once or twice for them to show back up. Still, the whole process takes like 90 seconds.
If you have trouble with the boss in this area, you can easily come back to this spot.
