yeah I'm looking at my different options. I have to lay down some plywood and get to the speakers and check

The one I got for the customer was the IC series, the ther 2 are supposedly to be better. But the IC series sounded warmer.

In my family room, I'm putting in the Kevlar (similar to the IC) set with silk dome for the Surrounds and Surround backs, for the front, and center, I used their in-wall IW line. I haven't finished, so I can't give a proper review yet.

Be careful when you do this due to numerous things:

1. Sealed box would make it heavy and put pressure on the drywall - Back ported would be better
2. Mounting surface needs to be thin because the clamps are only about 1.25" thick. Drywall are about 0.5" thick already.

These speakers are designed for their purposed, so a box for it won't be necessary unless your attic space is very open.

tested the ceiling speakers. they aren't fantastic but they aren't half bad either. certainly better than the speakers in the logitech z-5450 with their 2.5" drivers. so i've decided to keep them for now and wait until next year for the speaker companys sale h:

but I will be picking up one of their subwoofer since I'll be without a sub now.

hopefully my receiver will come in tomorrow and I can hook everything up to the receiver and give them a better evaluation.

Got my receiver and hooked everything up. Sound definitely better over the logitechs built in amp. Used the mic to set the sound levels automatically and it made a big difference. However, I haven't received my subs yet so there is a big hole in my sound

I'll most likely upgrade the ceiling speakers at the end of next year. Now off the find a place where I can customer order an Elite screen :hs:

got my subs. now it sounds more like a home theater... (on a budget h: )

only problem now is the wiring in the wall that moves the sub signals from the front of the room (where the receiver is) to the back of the room is causing a buzz when it's used when i by pass it no buzz :hs: so for now I have ghetto wiring from across my room to the back :exnbp:

You can be brave and see if you can pull a new cable using the old one to fish it through

got this hdmi cable. http://www.bettercables.com/hdmi-cable.aspx

finally got to test it out last night...

Wow... I didn't think it would make any difference. In fact I just figured it would be eye candy. Nope... the picture itself was better. I swapped back and forth between that cable and the "regular" hdmi cable and the picture was not as vivid and the contrast wasn't as good.

Compared to $400-500 for other "high-end" brands I just saved myself $250-350. That's nearly enough to pay for my ceiling speakers upgrade to 8" units.

I've also tried these http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2
I've yet to have one that actually worked (blank screen, no signal).

Can't beat Onkyo. I've had my 905 for 2 years, and absolutely love it.
They can be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The newer models all get great reviews.

The TX-SR707 is a great entry level. I think they run around $900.
