Also, give Elemental Design a look for their speakers and Sub. One of the very good one.

If room space is still an issue, give Paradigm a look, especially their Millenia & Signature series. Aesthetically nice and awesome SQL.

You DON'T necessary need the Pioneer Elite. I'd go with the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K ($400), and spend the $$ on the speakers, do the calibration (which is included in the Pioneer receiver) and be blown away.
I need dual HDMI out.

Rick,
determine the room size and max. spl then go ahead and pick your speakers
if your room is quite large (I'm assuming it is since you're considering projection), i'm not quite sure if that Definitive set is for you. 4.5" mids can only go so loud. Keep in mind that the sub in that system is only 8". Except for all out horns system, there's no replacement for displacement.

as far as receivers go...if you like to keep things simple
almost any highend consumer ones will do
keep in mind that you don't need to buy the features you'll never need and buy one w/ honest power ratings

p.s emotiva has really good prices on decent amps...you really can't even DIY for the prices they offer

only 1 dealer nearly by (within 30miles) so I'll have to call them and see what they have available.

however from what I am seeing online, they are 1. out of the price range I want to spend and 2. too big for my application

I may end up with going with the existing ceiling speakers or if I feel compelled, upgrading them to 8" and adding a sub.

That could work, if you're going to upgrade the in-celing speakers, look here: Awesome sets. I installed a 7.2 set for my customers and they blow all the audiphiles out of the water.

you could build a proper box inside the ceiling as well, that will really improve the sound of your existing speakers. Cheap.
