take a look at www.axiomaudio.com/ or www.aperionaudio.com/ or other internet only brands that are highly touted on avsforum. supposedly their speakers offer best bang for buck since it's sold direct without middlemen.

only problem with those is where do i go to listen to them?

I have "different" ears than others so I like to listen to them myself before I buy them.

For start, how big is your room and how far is the sitting/viewing area?

For AV Receiver, I'd strongly suggest the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. Definitely best bang for the buck that's on par, if not, better than the Denon listed. Think of it as the "baby-Elite" series. I've tested it along with other Elite series and it's definitely up there. Otherwise, with that money, I'd look into the THX Certified Receiver (Pioneer Elite Setup).

As for speakers, if you have enough room (which I assume so since you'll be using projector & screen), spend on some good quality front stage towers and centers.
I'm looking at Pioneer stuff now. As for tower speakers. It may not be possible. I can squeeze them in but it will get in the way of everything.
Or I have to get extremely narrow thin profile speakers which gets expensive.

If I had a 5 figure budget sure but I don't and I'm trying to keep everything in budget, so not necessarily getting the best of everything within my budget. I plan on spending less on some parts that I can upgrade easily later. One of the reasons why I want so spend more on cabling is because I don't want to run cables again h: after this time.

owners actually let strangers test them in their homes all over the US. pretty cool community. i think aperion has free shipping both ways. and axiom has free shipping 1 way. 30 day test period for both. but yah i can see how it can be a problem.

I see, I'll get at some speaker suggestion tomorrow. I don't mean to say "spend 10K on speakers". Your budget is a VERY GOOD budget and you can definitely get an awesome set of speakers with it.

I'll get back to you later.
