Our govt officials are just as common as anyone else in this country, in fact they are our servants. Apparently they have forgotten this and they need to be brought back to reality one way or another.

This country is in financial crisis and yet they think it's ok to buy 550 mil worth of planes which are unnecessary at this point and time.

how many senators and representative are they in the USA? seams to me that 8 gulfstream is a not exesive for the most powerfull country in the world. Like i said before there are lots of reasons that commerical flights would not work for government officials.

If they were doing this during a time when the country wasn't going bankrupt I wouldn't really give a shit, but to yell at members of private industry less than 8 months ago for the very same thing you are about to do is bullshit.

I am TOTALLY for the Senators and Representatives to fly commercial. Everyone knows that we can no longer TALK to our representatives (both Rep. and Dem.) like the system was designed to do. This month off is when they are supposed to REALLY listen to their constituents, yet I dare everyone to try and get your word in. Bet you are shut out at the door.

I agree frivolous spending is absurd. Spend the money where it matters. Our Government needs to fear its people. Not the other way around. "Remember, Remember the 5th of November."

It's like at the company that laid me off. If the higher ups took a 5% paycut they could keep so much more of the company, yet they wouldn't. The GD makes $385k a year, with $180k on top of that going right into retirement (and that is NOT what he contributes...that's on TOP of his salary) and his wife is the second highest paid person at $280k. If those two alone took 5% out it would be my laid off salary alone. And there are 5-6 others that make over $100k. My boss was the only one willing to make sacrifices to save his employees/programs. If ALL government officials took at 10% paycut I wonder how much money that would save us. :madr: It's all a bunch of greedy mother fuckers now.

 

CITI plane last bank to have been in the news about planes is citi - govt pretty much told them to shove the plane purchase. also on a side note - looks like citi was trying to sell 2 of their older planes - mayb the govt should buy those on the cheap if the need more planes.

 

There is no way i would want my countries high ranking officials to travel on commercial flights.

The difference between a private company official flying in a jet to ask for a bailout and your representative flying to an offical foreign affair visit.

Also the car manufacturer were saying that the needed money for daily operations yet the proceded to speding large sums of money rejuvanating their fleet.

These gouverment officials have to fly overseas and meet other high ranking officials or visiting military bases... is just not the same. You cannot even start comparing the two.

But ultimatly if you guys really want your representative to travel in comercial flights so be it. It's nearly impossible though.

 

There is no difference, it is all taxpayer money no matter who is spending it in this case.
