Swaggs21 House Build Thread
So was there a house on this property that you tore down or was this like "SURPRISE there's a house that was previously here that you didn't know about because it was either burned or torn down before you got here."
I never knew all of this went into building a house. I just though they dug a huge hole, ran some pipes, poured some concreate molded it and BAM you have a house.

It was an old house that was on the property when my grandfather bought it. He tore it down, and I knew where the house was located, but I had no idea that they just piled all of the crap into the hole and covered it over. But there is more to the story than that too.
We are running into steel sewer lines (they would have to be pre-1950 or so) and a whole bunch of other things, and you just can't go dump those over a hill like you can dirt. That makes cost go up, and it makes it take a lot more time to get things done.
Here are some updated pics of the property. The basement will be dug in the morning and should be finished tomorrow evening. Rock for the foundation should go in on Saturday, and the walls should be set on Monday or Tuesday, at least that is the schedule right now.

well that's what they do. found this out 2/3 years ago when the house we had next door to us was torn down. they ripped a foot or so off the foundation and then just filled the hole.
Basement/wrap around porches are dug, rock tomorrow, foundation Thursday with steel I-beams placed, deck (subfloor) will be on Friday.
Just hope the rain doesn't come like they say it could (over an inch for tomorrow)
