Jay Cutler is now a big bitch. Seriously, he's on crack if he thinks he's on the same level as Brady and the Manning Brothers.

Also, don't forget that TJ Houshmandzadeh signed with the Seahawks.

Not really. Vrabel is old. I wouldn't exactly call Cassel a proven starting QB...he started one season...and he had one of the best teams in the NFL around him. They have Brady coming back (big contract), and would have been paying Cassel 14+ million to ride the pine. Plus, they get an early 2nd round pick...that's golden.

A lot of big QBs will be going into the draft next year. Considering that the only other big QB going in the first round or two is Matthew Stafford, he made the right move.

Yup. Especially with the fact that the NFL is trying to institute a rookie salary cap for next year. It probably wont happen be cause the players association won't allow it, but the league is going to try. But yes...this QB class is very weak.

Brady is coming back from severe, reconstructive knee surgery ... that even had a staph infection. He isn't going to be right and might not even be able to complete the season. McNabb went through the same thing 2 years ago when attempting to come back from ACL / MCL within 12 months.

I'm agreeing with the cost cutting move, but there were better offers on the table. From what ESPN is reporting, the 3-way Tampa deal would have surrendered a 1st round pick. Hell, even the Bears would have given a 1st.

I'm glad Cutler didn't leave, I think he's a much more proven commodity than Cassel. I'm not the biggest Cutler fan -- he threw far too many unnecessary late-game and red zone interceptions last year, and he's obviously got thin skin. But Cassel only played one year, and only proved that he was serviceable when surrounded by one of the best teams in the league and inserted into a system. It still remains to be seen how he can do without the patriots' safety net around him. Plus, he would command $14+ million this year compared to half that for Cutler.

I'm really glad we picked up Dawkins. I don't know what Philly was thinking letting him go. He should be a great leader for our defense.

Belichick gave Pioli a sweetheart deal. I would have thought a 2nd rounder for Cassel was low anyway, but throw Vrabel into the trade for free and it definitely seems like an under-market-value trade.

:werd: clearing up cap space is huge so they can work on getting some contract extensions for Wilfork and Mankins who who will command huge contracts. the 34th overall pick is decent compensation, I would have like more being a pats fan, but they got ok value for Cassel, its the Vrabel thing that irked me.

I think Brady will be fine. He never relied on his legs like McNabb and he doesn't ever take hits. If anyone gets close to him he just falls over.
Belichick said he didn't want the financial responsibility of a first rounder. The Patriots now have 6 second rounders. They are definitely are going to be the team to beat in the coming years.

I just hope Pat White gets to a team that will let him play his game. He is a winner, he just needs the chance to show it.
