I'm glad Cutler didn't leave, I think he's a much more proven commodity than Cassel. I'm not the biggest Cutler fan -- he threw far too many unnecessary late-game and red zone interceptions last year, and he's obviously got thin skin. But Cassel only played one year, and only proved that he was serviceable when surrounded by one of the best teams in the league and inserted into a system. It still remains to be seen how he can do without the patriots' safety net around him. Plus, he would command $14+ million this year compared to half that for Cutler.
I'm really glad we picked up Dawkins. I don't know what Philly was thinking letting him go. He should be a great leader for our defense.
Belichick gave Pioli a sweetheart deal. I would have thought a 2nd rounder for Cassel was low anyway, but throw Vrabel into the trade for free and it definitely seems like an under-market-value trade.
