Not really. Vrabel is old. I wouldn't exactly call Cassel a proven starting QB...he started one season...and he had one of the best teams in the NFL around him. They have Brady coming back (big contract), and would have been paying Cassel 14+ million to ride the pine. Plus, they get an early 2nd round pick...that's golden.
Brady is coming back from severe, reconstructive knee surgery ... that even had a staph infection. He isn't going to be right and might not even be able to complete the season. McNabb went through the same thing 2 years ago when attempting to come back from ACL / MCL within 12 months.
I'm agreeing with the cost cutting move, but there were better offers on the table. From what ESPN is reporting, the 3-way Tampa deal would have surrendered a 1st round pick. Hell, even the Bears would have given a 1st.
