Bluray and DVD are comparable? :eh:
The only similarity is that they're on optical disc.

still waiting for my GT on PSP- but I don't think it's going to happen... and whats with the delivery date for GT5 being Christmas 09?
:edit:

blu-ray movies cost too much $$$ for what is essentially a better encode- which is just dumb in my mind because the bitrate is being swallowed by the massive resolutions.

I'm not even talking about the 80s. When I was in HS (94-98) CDs were typically 19.99 regular price. They'd be on "special" for new release or whatever for 17.99.
I bought my first DVD player back in '00 or '01 for $350...it was a Sony 5-disc DVD changer. The first movie I bought was The Matrix...for right around $20.

Factor in inflation and you get the same price.

are you serious? do you really want to start a debate on how DVD to BR is not worth it as much as VCR to DVD was?
The quality difference between DVD and BR does not justify changing your whole library over. It also does not justify paying close to 50% premiums on movies.
For most people the quality is comparable.

When viewed on an HDTV the quality is worth it, maybe you need to have your eyes checked. I compared the cars dvd to the bluray, and the difference is ridiculous...even my step father who thought hdtv wasn't that big of a deal was convinced when he saw the difference. You can pick up blu-ray for $20 on sale when they release if you shop around, that is not a high price in comparison to any new vs. old format conversion.

^ don't need to get my eyes checked. I'm on a he tv as well an I can see the difference but like many other people with the sale number to support my point do not beleive in paying a premium for that difference. All that translate to the ps3 not selling. From the biggining the fans have been saying to make better exclusive games and Sony didn't. They relied on the BR and now the consumers are saying they don't want to change over to the new format. Sony need to take the necessary change they will get fucked.
