the FS should be stainless so bluing wear and rust shouldn't be an issue. they're pretty reliable guns so there isn't much to look for. make sure it's clean, check the barrel for for unusual wear(gouges, grooves), check screw heads for signs of disassembly (possible sign of being repaired or home gunsmithing)

if i were you i'd go 27 over 26 for the ammo and mag compatibility. if your primary goes tits up you can still use your primary mags in your bug.
Pay attention to the feel of the slide when you rack it back. Depending on round count the slide may have more play (Abuse or high round count) or feel solid on the frame w/ out any play (proper care)
