Picked up a box of Federal Fusion .300WSM to hopefully down a big boy a week from today. I'd like to try it out on a doe's head also.

don't waste your time on headshots

its not worth it trust me ... i dont know how many times ive had to wander the woods because my gramps wanted to play tough guy and go for a headshot and the skull caused a bad impact

on a side note, AR barrel came in this weekend ... have it on the rifle when i go home for christmas

skull is thick enough that it causes the bullet to shift on impact, sometimes you dont get a direct shot or it goes straight through and the deer is able to run for a decent distance. you can get alot of glances. not to mention if the deer moves even an inch it can cause a miss, the target isnt large enough to guarantee a kill or even a hit. its a cool thought but its not practical enough

the sweet spot is always just behind the front shoulder blade, i never aim anywhere else.

i dont see what it being a doe has to do with anything?

and im not there to make it challenging, if its a difficult shot i'm not taking it.

ethical kills > challenging kills

if i want to challenge myself i'll go to a range and play at the 500yd mark.
when i pull the trigger its a confident shot and im putting the animal down with that 1 shot, not playing games or testing how good i really am
