Official Gun Krew Thread be here
Guns are getting mighty expensive, just picked up an XD9 4" for $550, on sale. Regular price was $620. I'm pretty sure the XD was a hell of lot cheaper than that when it first came out, even here in CA (I think guns are more expensive here due to all the CA red tape).

I think it's definitely CA BS. Handguns can't be sold here unless they're on the CA approved handgun roster, which requires the manufacturers to pay for lab testing to prove that they are not prone to accidental discharge when dropped or whatever else the politicians deem necessary to include in the battery of tests. The XD(M) is not sold here because it's not on the approved roster.

My dad showed me his old 1911 that he's had for a long time (about 25-30 years) that he keeps at his body shop for personal protection. He brought me the gun and it was nasty as hell...dust all over it. There is some normal aging and holster wear on the frame and slide that can't really be fixed without having it completely refinished. But he asked me if I could take and clean it for him since I like cleaning guns and he doesn't have the time. I have never taken apart a 1911 and really haven't messed with one much more than just holding one at the gun shops. My next gun will probably be a 1911 (thinking Springfield Operator), so I took this opportunity to learn more about the ins-&outs of the 1911 while doing my dad a favor. I forgot to take a before pic, but you can tell from the first pic I'll post how dirty and dusty it was. Btw...it's a Colt Gold Cup National Match '70 series
Here's when I finally got it apart:

And here it is all clean:

you should be able to clean up those wear spots, i'm sure you can find a product. we use a small bottle of bluing agent for reg barrels that have oxidation. clean off and put the agent on. not perfect but way better than if you left it. buy a new trigger piece for it and man that thing would be almost as good as new
