Heading out this weekend to Appleseed Project training. They claim they can train you on rifle marksmanship to hit a man sized target at 500 yards (at most ranges they simulate the distance with smaller targets on a 25 yard range) / pass the Army Qualifying Test for rifle marksmanship. We shall see, particularly since my eyes aren't that great. Given that you need to shoot in the neighborhood of 400 rounds over the weekend, I will be taking the Marlin .22LR out for the training.

Oh, that claim is accurate. In the Marine Corps I was able to hit a man sized target at 500 yards using nothing but iron sights with 8 out of 10 rounds. But you need to take into account elevation and windage and make the necessary adjustments. They should provide you with a booklet that explains how to read the range flags and how many clicks in either direction you need to make based on the angle of the flag. You can also take a little sand in your hand and drop it slowly and see what angle and direction the wind is blowing it if there is not a flag readily available.

what did you have them do? dremmel the FSB down so it would fit under handguards? i need to do that to mine still whenever i feel like getting the tools out
