Well, I guess I need to build some kind of credit...

IMO, it's more responsible to purchase what you can afford without credit. I understand there are things that require credit, such as mortgages, car payments, etc. I haven't needed any of those things yet. I suppose if my folks didn't help out (read: help out, not provide) with my school bills I would be singing a different song.

I'm really good with my money, and I just never want to spend money that isn't mine (exception - student loans, which will be <$10k by graduation).

If I'm out of money, I don't buy shit, or I work my ass off to get more.

alright i'll tell you guys one of the easiest way to boost your credit score.

find out if your parents have good credit and ask them to add you on their oldest credit card. once they get the credit card issued in their name, ask them to cut it up and throw it away. within 3-6months, you will see a huge increase in your credit score.

yes :rick:

this is one of the things some parents will do for their kids.

this is also one of the tricks people used to use to get lower interest rates on mortgages (back in the 90's). it still works. obviously it's not going to get you from 500 to 800 in 6months since what it is doing is increasing your credit history. but if you're on the edge say like 680 and need 740 to get a better interest rate, it works wonders :rick:

True story. The guy I helped got his gf to throw him on a card with a $4500 limit. His score jumped during the time he was knocking things off.
