I've never checked mine... never had a CC though. I had a time warner bill in my name for a little while, that's about it.

I should probably check it out and hop on the CC train... What an odd system.

I always wanted to see the exact formula that the companies use to determine credit ratings. That shit must be top secret or something.

Well each company does it a little different, and your final fico score is an average of the three. When I bought my house, my highest was a 760-something and my lowest was a 730-something, so it's not exactly a precise science.

I have the breakdown of what percentage of what category goes in at work, I'll try to post it up later. i.e. 25% of your score is based off payment history, 15% off length of history, etc.

my credit score when i went to get preapproved for a mortgage was an avg of 773. of course since then one of my drs had sent an old bill of mine to collections (it was from jan 07) they still had my old address from 5 years ago in their billing system but my correct address in their actual system, the two systems evidently never shared info  The Bill got paid when i eventually found out about it and they claimed they were going to get it taken off my credit report. well i called up the collections agency today and they told me it is closed but wasnt deleted from my credit report So now I have got to get that taken care of cause it dropped my score quite a bit when it happened and was still open. Also i just got a letter from one of my companies that hold stocks of mine saying that they lost information and i now have 24 months of Triple Alert So I gotta check that out and see how it works
