it's like that everywhere wars are caused because people are trying to force there beleifs (religion, political, social, ect...) thats what wars are about.
if they wore uniforms this would be a lot easier

I get your point, I think it was chicken shit totally. I think one of the points attempting to be made here is that there are plenty of other situations where innocents are perishing for no fucking reason other than insanity, in all cultures (in that, you had mentioned that the culture thought it heroic, some here too think it is heroic to do what we are doing in Iraq).

what does that have to do with what you highlighted? im talking about taking a 3rd party and attacking another 3rd party

a service member who opposes what his command says is nowhere near the same concept

you want my opinion on US military service and deserters?

the US military is a volunteer force, i may not be in but thats only cuz of my spine condition otherwise id be over there right now in about my 5th or 6th year of service ...

when you decide to join you sign a contract and you verbally state your allegiance to the government of this country. against ALL foreign and domestic threats. at that point IMO you have NO right to stand there and refuse to do what they say ... you may not agree but you signed the line and stated your oath

IF you decide that you dont have to hold yourself to that oath, thats insubordination and/or desertion depending on what you do

at that point your ass deserves everything you get. nothing pisses me off more than these people who signed up thinking hey i get this cool job and i make money and can go to school and the minute they actually have to earn that money by doing what they signed and swore they would do they bitch and say its not fair and its not right

you have to be a complete MORON to join an armed military force and expect to NEVER have to fire a gun at someone or kill someone or support the killing of someone.

drew not you too

these arent innocents killing innocents

these are fucked up kids who decided to lash out at the nearest thing ... they didnt take their sister or brother or some other 3rd party and force them into killing these other people who most likely did absolutely nothing to them

the title is "sometimes i really question family values" then you follow by saying "i'm talking about specifically muslims / arabs and a certain case in particular:" if you werent talking about religion and race then why mention it?

And again no one is arguing that what this dude did is ok or justifyble. not from our point of view anywai... what we are saying is that all group will have extrimist. and this guy is just an extremist. but it's not the whole culture it's just this guy!

i know there are quite a few members on the board enlisted in the United States Military, some who have been to Iraq for the war. If you get a chance to goto Baghdad sometime in the near future or have gone in the recent past, you'd realize the American attack was no joke. their whole city is like in ruins. stating - we might have killed a few innocent people accidentally and blah is not even close to an explanation if you have been to Baghdad and have seen the carnage.

The girl in the original post wasn't innocent. She knew what was going on. If someone tells me to wear a 33lb vest out-of-the-blue ... I'm pretty sure I know what's in it.
