File a report with insurance and the police for hit and run.

Agreed 100%.

Note or no note, people will try to fuck you over if they think they can get away with it.

When the Integra was hit in 05, the person who left the note disconnected their phone number before I could get back to them with a quote.

I never bothered to mention it at the time, but it was clear that their intention was to stick me with the cost of repairing the car. And I was absolutely furious about it. Not to the point of homicide, but damn close.

Given the severity of the damage, I say turn the info over to the insurance and let them pursue the matter.

File a hit and run? Automatically file a claim without even talking to the guy?

You guys are awesome.

you've convinced me... if i hit a parked car i'm not leaving a note and just get away with it. and if ever there is a witness i'll leave a note with a fake number.

Technically it's not hit and run if they left a note.

If the person left a note, you would want to file an accident report, not a hit and run. A hit and run is accusing the other person of a crime, an accident report is not.

but if said person wrote down your plate numbers, you're SOL false info, canadian, etc...

Also, a friend of mind got hit and the person that left the note put,

"Hello, I hit your car, I don't have insurance, sorry..."

This was near the food court armada so I'm guessing someone saw and the person just wrote shit down

Never hit anyone in a parking lot but if I did, I'd leave a note, and if there is security at the place, leave them my information also... I wouldn't wait for the person :/

seriously.. the alternative according to dave and jon is not to leave a note at all. yeah, that's better.

for fuck's sake, the guy actually gave a shit and left contact information, and you're saying that he deserves to be fucked? what the hell?
