Sure it sucks, but props to the guy for taking responsibility. You can't get so attached to physical objects, it's just not worth it. Especially a car -- they're always going to get hit or fall apart or whatever.

i dont know dude... it's like i cant' kill the guy who accidently fucked up my car and left me a note excusing himself and giving me his contact info. So instead i will make sure that we DON NOT have a friendly agreement... i'll just be a dick about the situation.

Doesn't matter, in a no fault insurance claim, no report you pay the deductible.
