Note or no note, people will try to fuck you over if they think they can get away with it.
When
the Integra was hit in 05, the person who left the note disconnected their phone number before I could get back to them with a quote.
I never bothered to mention it at the time, but it was clear that their intention was to stick me with the cost of repairing the car. And I was absolutely furious about it. Not to the point of homicide, but damn close.
Given the severity of the damage, I say turn the info over to the insurance and let them pursue the matter.
