i always just upgrade using Itunes and unlock it everytime works well for me. i admit i havent tried virginizing but i dont really see the point. virginising was essential when the new 1.1.3 firmware as you had to downgrad from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 in order to ugrade back to 1.1.3
but now with 1.1.4 and ziphone its auto. in any case it's important that you use something you're comfy with...

i've never seen the appeal of an iPhone; as a matter of fact all apple products for that matter.
whats the battery life like on a modded one? (somebody said its like psp, can you oc it or underclock it to save soem power?)

dead thread bump. I just jailbroke my 3g on 2.2. I will never go back. I have now added every feature I felt the phone was lacking out of the box. I added camcorder, landscape keyboard for texting and e-mail, new theme to the phone and a bunch of other neat stuff. I dunno why I didn't jailbreak it the day I got it. I used quickpwn with cydia.

Is it slower at all? My friend had his jailbroken but it was too slow. I heard 2.2 is supposed to be better but I haven't heard anyone say anything about it.
I'm hoping they jailbreak the 2nd gen itouch soon.
