depends on what the shop charges and how muc hthe guy feels its worth. level of detail involved and colors

normally you can walk in with a pic and say heres what i want and they will price you right there.

this reminds me i need to give my buddy a call for some ink work. cant beat getting work done for a case of beer, especially when you drink it with him after the works done

talk to a person you see on the streets with a bunch of tattoos and ask them where they got it at.

It depends on the amount of work, color and the experience of the artist. A good tattoo isn't cheap and a cheap tattoo isn't good.
I would suggest going to shops around you and looking through their portfolios. After you have looked through some and picked a good artist, take him your idea and drawing(Or photo from the net, they will revamp it) and see what he can come up with. Most people charge for drawing things up, but if you have them do it, they normally take that charge out of your overall cost.
