Glad it worked out, I feel sorry for cats around here when they're out in the cold looking for heat, but I'm pretty sure most or all of them have homes but they choose to run around outside and like to take a break by a warm car now and then.
Also glad there isn't really room for a stray to hide in my engine bay, since I get home late and I'm sure my car's the only warm place they could get to... and I often park right by the dumpsters too :hsugh:
I'd both be pissed and feel real sorry if I started up my car and hear a cat shrieking in fear, like I hear happens sometimes.
I heard about something like that happening where there were like 5 kittens in some guy's engine bay and he didn't know about it and when he started up his truck, the engine kind of skipped and make weird noises. Then as he was driving, he smelled something funny and thought he saw smoke so he pulled over and popped his hood and there was kitty chunks everywhere.
Not sure how that would work though. If a cat got caught in the belt, wouldn't the car not start?

1)You save the cat and feel good about it
2)The bitch gets in trouble for being a bad pet owner
3)The cat will have a warm place to stay and be fed regularly

If that actually happened, the truck probably had a fixed fan so as soon as it turned over it chopped them up.
Just getting caught between the belts and pulleys wouldn't result in chunks everywhere. I wouldn't think at least, just mangled as hell and maybe a few more pieces than they started with.
