I just find it funny that people have no problem de-sexing a cat, but our outraged at declawing them.
completely different.
de-sexing a cat is in the best interests of the cat. declawing the cat is in the best interests of the owner.

now if you want to argue that you shouldn't neuter an adult male, i'll agree with that. you risk causing psychological damage. my friend's dog had to be put down because of that.
spaying a female however does not impact them in any way except that she won't be going into heat, and she can't get knocked up.

freak out no animal i have ever owned has freaked out in heat. people claim spaying and neutering is to avoid strays and overcrowded humane societies, 2 biproducts of irresponsible pet ownership. if your animal is in heat, dont leave her outside unsupervised for any random dog or cat in the neighborhood to come impregnate.
desexing an animal is a completely unneccesary method created by do-gooders and vets alike. one group is able to bypass accountability and another is able to make some money.

So...what's so horrible about being in my best interest? I paid for the cat, I give it food, I let it lounge around the house all day not doing shit, I give it attention. Overall, I give it a pretty sweet life and in return I do a procedure that keeps the cat from tearing the house apart while I'm at work. I've seen several cats that have been declawed and they all seem to be fully functional, productive cats that make their way in today's harsh society.
Ok that last part was a joke, but you get what I'm saying.
I've declawed all my cats. I'm sure they are happier that way because when they scratch my furniture without claws I don't throw my shoe at them :chuckles:
Some people are against it but if it's an indoor cat I would do it.
