Is declawing still common?
negative. the girl sometimes pisses and poops out of the box. i have to clean that up much more often than i would deal with her going into heat. nice try, but i do my part. i also deal with the "inconvenience" of her having all of her claws.

THEY are inconvenienced because they want to get laid, but they can't.

Don't do it RB, if you chop the kitties fingers off he'll never be able to hold a pencil or even type ever again. 
I really don't see what's so horrible about it. We aren't talking about some Jed Clampette ripping it's claws out with rusty pliers. If they were in such immense pain they wouldn't even be walking around afterwards. My cat's didn't seem to give two shits about it. They both acted normal after I picked them up. If they're indoor cats there is nothing wrong with removing a hunting and defense mechanism that the won't need anyway.
