I have a cable modem that works just dandy when connected directly to the wall outlet via a coaxial cable...but when I try to use a 1-->2 splitter to also get my TV to work, the TV work work but the modem can't connect
it will 'receive' but not 'send'. I've tried different coax cables but no luck. Bad splitter or am I missing something? The splitter is brand new.

Splitting cable signal again before it gets to the cable modem = BAD
More likely to incur slower speeds and/or connection drop outs.
Best to just get a better more capable main splitter and have the cable modem come directly off that without being split a 2nd time.
I know I know, that usually requires running another cable line. But if you ask me, it's worth it.
