What's your take on birth control???
my wife was on the pill for a few years now... sex is the last thing on her mind.
She stopped taking it for a month now and I see a marked improvement. Not huge, but improvement. But now there's the chance of babies.
So for her, the pill works by making her not want any.

Just wanna toss in this tid bit of info. If the girls a regular smoker and they use the ring or patch. The effectiveness of that BC is supposed to be greatly reduced which may = baby.
Careful with the IUD route. My exwife was researching that because the hormones in the pill were fucking up her moods so bad. One of the main conditions to getting an IUD is if you've already been pregnant/given birth.
Depending on whether you use the hormone based one or the copper one it can last 5-10yrs respectively. Insertion and removal are EXPENSIVE though. $200-600 for the whole deal. $200-300 to remove.
Not good for women with heavy flows or bad cramps or who get lots of PIDs.
Here's a link for about who should get it and who shouldn't.

Everyone is going to "have a friend that" had some sort of ill effect from EVERY method. Fact is, it's what's best and convenient for the individual.
You do not have to of given birth for an IUD, it's just preferable, there are plenty of women out there who have not given birth and cannot use hormonal birth control that have gone this route.
Insertion and removal are CHEAP or comparable when you look at it from the aspect of all the money that would have been spent on the pill or the shot in the meantime.
There is a lot of uneducation and bias in this thread.
EDIT: Where the hell is WildPenis!

my wife has been on the shot, the pill and now the ring (nuvaring). the shot literally killed her sex drive, the pill worked fine but it's inconvenient as you have to take it daily at the same time. so far she loves the ring. she puts it in once a month, takes it out a week for her period then puts a new one in. it doesn't give her any discomfort at all during sex or any activities at all.
