With the dutch oven it cooks faster, but does the same shit. Plus you'll get a little crisp on the skin if you do it right.
well, with the Crockpot you can. so your greater than statement is irrelevant.

o:

The chickens I've made in crock pots were usually smothered, and didn't give a chance for the top to get crispy like a dutch oven.

Best BBQ Beans ever

Ingredients:
2 16 ounce cans of navy beans
1 cup chopped burnt ends (or 8 slices lightly cooked smoked bacon)
3/4 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite- I like Sweet Baby Ray's)
1/2 medium onion chopped
1 small green pepper chopped
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Optional:
1 jalapeno, chopped or 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp liquid smoke (if you use bacon instead of burnt ends and want more smoke flavor)

Combine ingredients in crockpot and cook for 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low. I love these things. Whenever I smoke meat i make sure to freeze a cup or two so that I will have some left over to make beans with. Got a half-pound of homemade smoked brisket sitting in the freezer right now waiting to be made into beans...
